Title: Director of Operations

Purpose: The Director of Operations is responsible for providing oversight and direction for the deposit and treasury management operations and information security activities of the Bank. This role directs all aspects related to strategy, development, implementation and ongoing management of these areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Possess the operational skills and hand on approach to support the implementation and execution of the bank’s strategic initiatives while simultaneously being strategic and collaborative in continuously determining the optimal set of products, services and platforms to move the bank forward.

Lead evaluation, re-design, implementation and continuous improvement of critical operating practices and procedures. Develop and/or approve operation objectives, policies and procedures. Deliver operational, technical and functional expertise in the development of Bank and departmental policies and procedures. Lead the teams in identifying and implementing changes for improved efficiency and overall quality of the departments’ operations.

Accountable to ensure proper execution of day to day operations activities, including the development of policies and efficient work processes, communications and driving cross functional collaboration in all areas of oversight.

Coach, mentor and provide guidance to managers and support the teams in the areas of staffing, career development, performance evaluations, problem solving, training, etc.

Collaborate with Information Technology to implement new technologies to improve business processes.

Collaborate with retail and treasury management services to ensure front line – back office streamlined processes.

Work with business development and marketing functions through customer data mining and monitoring, design and development of new products, and collaborate with the marketing and business development related functions to support sales in deposits and cash management services.

Possess excellent project management skills, required to evaluate and reengineer processes and work flows, document processes and procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Work with internal auditors, external auditors and regulatory examiners to ensure the internal controls, system controls and security of the system are maintained at high standards.

Remain current on policies, regulations, and industry best practices and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of products and services offered in the market and incorporate those into the daily operating environment.

Administer the relationship with the Bank’s core processing vendor, Fiserv. Serve as the Chair of the Bank’s internal Fiserv Committee and lead core processing contract renewal negotiations, assessment of performance and engage in product and service expansion.

Oversee the departments’ business continuity plan, procedures and activities.

Build Strong Communities:
Maintain a presence in the Community as an active ambassador for West Bank.  Participate in community events, including spending at least 8 hours annually staffing an event (art festivals, community celebrations, etc.), representing West Bank at a luncheon or reception as requested, or participating in a community festival (parade, etc.) or bank-sponsored outreach event.

Qualifications (Including Education and Experience):
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a four (4) year college or university with at least 10 years related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Additional skills required include the following:

  • Minimum 10 years professional level experience in the financial institution industry.
  • 5 years’ experience leadership/supervisory role in bank operations. Excellent people manager and possess a coaching and development management style.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills to foster positive collaboration across lines of business.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be self-motivated, resourceful and forward thinking in approach to bank operations.
  • General bank compliance and best practice knowledge.
  • Experience with banking software packages relevant to electronic banking highly desired.
  • Knowledge of Fiserv Premier Core Banking system highly desired.
  • Must be able to translate and document business objectives into written project and people goals.
  • Strong project development, launch, rollout experience highly desired.
  • Prior experience in vendor negotiation and management.
  • Ability to engage, coach, motivate and lead a team, while holding employees accountable for results.
  • Excellent internal and external client service skills.
