Positive Pay - Preventing Check Fraud
Positive Pay helps you control which checks are approved for payment by automatically comparing every presented check against a list of checks you’ve already issued.
How Positive Pay works
When your checks are presented for payment, Positive Pay matches key details such as check number and dollar amount to your submitted issue file (your authorized check list). If something doesn’t match, the item is flagged as an exception, and you’re notified to review it. Positive Pay helps protect your business from common check fraud scenarios like:
- Altered check amounts
- Duplicate checks
- Stolen checks
- Counterfeit checks
What happens when a check is flagged?
When an exception item appears, you stay in control. You can:
- Approve the check if it’s legitimate
- Return/deny the check if it’s suspicious
- Review items quickly so decisions don’t slow down your operations
ACH Filter: Verifying ACH Transactions
ACH Fraud Filter helps reduce unauthorized electronic transactions by letting you define what “approved” ACH activity looks like for your business.
How ACH Fraud Filter works
You set up custom rules for incoming and/or outgoing ACH transactions based on the controls that fit your risk level and payment patterns. If an ACH transaction is presented that violates one or more of your rules, it’s flagged for review and you’re notified. Depending on your setup, rules may help you:
- Allow or block specific originators
- Set dollar limits for ACH transactions
- Restrict activity by transaction type
- Identify transactions that don’t match your normal behavior
What happens when a transaction is flagged?
If an ACH transaction is flagged for any reason, you are able to manually:
- Accept it if it’s expected
- Deny/return it if it’s unauthorized
- Make decisions quickly to reduce exposure and protect cash flow
