On June 22, West Bank held a ground breaking ceremony for a new corporate headquarters at 3330 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines.
The new four-story, 72,000 square-foot building is being built on 7.5 acres, south of Valley West Mall and adjacent to I-235. The building will include a wraparound rooftop terrace and other areas for hosting West Bank events, including a lower-level walk-out patio with a view of a new water feature. Construction is scheduled to be complete in 2024.
“As the oldest business of any type to be founded in West Des Moines, we believe it’s very important to remain headquartered here,” said Dave Nelson, West Bank Chairman and CEO.
“To further demonstrate our support for West Des Moines, we selected a site that is not only highly visible, but also in need of reinvestment and redevelopment,” Nelson adds. “Redevelopment is both more difficult and more expensive, but as community leaders, we think it’s important to support the community that has supported us for so long.”
Clyde Evans, West Des Moines Director of Community and Economic Development said this about West Bank’s plans, ”…it’s sending a significant statement to the development community and the City at-large that West Bank believes in investing in the community, whether it’s this project – which will be an icon for the next 50 to 100 years – or participating in the West Des Moines Historic Housing program, it shows the commitment West Bank has made to this community.”
Other speakers at the ground breaking ceremony included Greg Hudson, West Des Moines City Council and Mayor Pro Tem; Doug Gulling, West Bank Building Construction Administrator; Jeff Henning, Henning Companies CEO; Matt Brown, Formation Group President; Jeff Plagge, Iowa Superintendent of Banking; and Katherine Harrington, West Des Moines Chamber President.
Formation Group in West Des Moines is serving as the owner’s agent on the building project. The architect is HGA and the general contractor is Henning Companies.
