West Bank’s Corporate Headquarters Construction Update

On June 22, 2022, West Bank broke ground on its new corporate headquarters at 3330 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Since then, construction of the building has made impressive progress, with the structure now clearly visible from I-235.

The new four-story, 72,000 square-foot headquarters is being built on 7.5 acres located south of Valley West Mall. The building will include a lower-level walk-out patio with a view of a new water feature and a rooftop terrace for entertaining guests and hosting events.

West Bank was founded as First Valley Junction Bank in 1893 making it the oldest business of any type to be founded in West Des Moines. The decision to remain headquartered in West Des Moines came easy.

“To further demonstrate our support for West Des Moines, we selected a site that is not only highly visible, but also in need of reinvestment and redevelopment,” said Dave Nelson, West Bank Chairman and CEO, during the groundbreaking. “Redevelopment is both more difficult and more expensive, but as community leaders, we think it’s important to support the community that has supported us for so long.”

Construction for the corporate headquarters is expected to be completed by spring 2024.

Project Facts:

-There is approximately 11,500 square feet of exterior vision glass on the building, which is equivalent to over 100,000 dollar bills.

– It takes 28 mixer truck loads to pour one floor with each floor of concrete weighing 1,069,200 pounds (534.6 tons).

– The new headquarters is 68.5 feet tall from the lower level patio to the top of the arch roof.

– Over 35,000 cubic yards of soil material will be hauled off the site when construction is complete.
