Alice Jensen Honored by Iowa Bankers Association for 50 Years of Service

Alice Jensen of West Bank, West Des Moines, was recently honored by the Iowa Bankers Association for more than 50 years of service at a bank. The award was presented to Jensen during the IBA Annual Convention on Tuesday, Sept. 20, in Des Moines. Jensen was one of 24 individuals recognized for reaching the 50-year service milestone.

“Each year, it’s amazing to hear these bankers’ stories of dedication to their communities and the many relationships they formed throughout their 50-plus years of service. We’re honored to be able to celebrate the exemplary commitment and experience of Alice Jensen,” said IBA President and CEO John Sorensen. “This event allows us the opportunity to recognize these legendary bankers among their family and friends, and in an environment that sets an example for our younger generation of bankers.”

Jensen worked for West Bank 49 years of her 50-year banking career, where she was well-known by customers, employees and board members. When she was hired, West Bank had only two locations in existence—both in West Des Moines. West Bank now has 11 locations in two states. During her tenure with West Bank, Jensen worked in several departments including loan processing, consumer lending, auditing, new accounts, trust, and payroll. Ultimately, Alice was named Vice President and Corporate Secretary in 2000 and retired from that position in 2021.

Jensen commented, “I am proud to have been a part of West Bank’s remarkable team for fifty years. I was always encouraged and given many opportunities to advance during my time there and, for that, I am forever grateful.”
